I'm the mom with the jammed up phone. It's packed full of cute snapshots and short snip-its of memories. The snapshots I arrange in cute photo books but the little videos? Beyond watching these clips over and over, reminding myself how quickly my kids are growing, crying into my wine about how I'll never get those moments back....I really don't (didn't) do much with them. Until now. I made this video in 15 minutes. Twins Brushing TeethIf you're like me you're constantly battling with whether to delete videos to make room for more, have them all saved on a hard drive somewhere randomly filed by unrecognizable names and totally unorganized with no idea, or energy, to figure out what to do with them. I had even given up on taking videos all together so I could avoid the severe mommy guilt that comes with deciding what to do with these videos. But I found the answer! We can capture those moments that are so cute they make our hearts melt and tell a story with them! I'm going to tell you how! I randomly stumbled upon the Splice app while trying to figure out how to put together a video for this blog. Ironically, this is made by GoPro. Their brand and the app seems to targeted towards extreme sports fanatics. Their Instagram page is covered with videos of snowboarding, kayaking, skateboarding etc. But I was going to use it to capture moments from the most demanding sport of all: Parenting. And in this particular video, toothbrushing. Yes. Extreme.Twin.Toothbrushing. I mean does it get any cuter? When people ask me what my girls are like together I have a hard time explaining how amazing it is to watch their bond. I think this video shows it well. This is one of those moments that melted my heart and a moment that I may not be able to remember it in years to come. I don't know if they'll always be this close and I wish I could freeze time and bring them back to this moment when they're older and fighting over a pair of shoes...but since I can't do that I plan on using these videos.
How To Make a Video Making a video to capture a moment and tell the cutest parts of the story is as simple as this: 1.) Go to: www.spliceapp.com (Splice - Video Editor & Movie Maker) 2.) Download the App 3.) When you've got a great moment or two, take a video. Or use videos you already have. (Note: you can combine several videos) 4.) Open the video(s) in the App and start editing. 5.) You will find that you can add music and one video blends into one another really well with some fool proof magic Splice has built in. 6.) You can speed up or slow down the video - this is super fun. 7.) You can add sound effects. 8.) Want to add more? Splice makes that super easy too - just tap the image and a plus sign will appear you can add another video from your phone, a photo or a title page. I'm sure there's more that can be done with this app but I'm only on my second video I'm certain I'll find new tips and tricks as I continue learning but I wanted to share this TODAY so everyone knew how easy it was and that they should not go another day without this fun app! Things I can't wait to do with this app? Take more video of special and ordinary moments, specifically of my grandma and girls. Make birthday video's. Document family vacations. And just capture those little things that steal my heart. To see the first video I made visit the home page on my website and scroll to the bottom. There you'll see a video made up of everyday, ordinary moments that when put to music become a magic memory. A Day in the Life. Twins. Happy Film Making!
